Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) is a membership organization that began almost 70 years ago to provide continuing dental education for general dentists.  It has grown to 40,000 members and AGD is their source for educational programs, practice management tools, advocacy support resources and their link to connect with a strong and dedicated network of industry leaders.  AGD's 60 dedicated employees work to serve its members and ensure their programs and resources remain a valuable partner in their general dentistry practice.

The Director of Human Resources, reporting to the Executive Director, serves as a critical member of the executive team and manages the daily activities of the human resources department, office services and building operations which include recruitment, benefit and compensation programs, payroll administration, and employee development.  This role will recommend programs to enhance the AGD benefit package to increase employee engagement while assisting in organization activities and special projects as directed. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the work of the Human Resources Administrator, Office Services and Building Operations and serve as a mentor/coach to ensure that all work efforts are being directed to achieve the overall goals of the department.
  • Drives the benefits administration by working with insurance broker to ensure plans are competitive, meet the needs of employees and are in-line with budgetary requirements.
  • Oversee and coordinate salary administration and the performance review process, ensuring that the compensation plan is fair and competitive.
  • Develop and implement personnel policies and procedures and work with managers to create a culture of optimal performance across the organization.
  • Manage staff development by identifying training needs and executing a plan to meet the development demands of employees across the organization.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or equivalent experience. HR Certification preferred.
  • Eight years of human resources generalist experience with 5+ years managing an HR department.
  • Experience overseeing payroll function.
  • Advanced comprehension and experience with Applicant Tracking and Performance Management Software.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to implement organizational change.
